In a report by Nikkei on January 20, Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) announced plans to establish specialized training hubs for semiconductor design and production talents at seven universities across the nation. This initiative aims to address the anticipated shortage of semiconductor professionals over the next decade. These hubs will commence open recruitment and talent selection processes within the fiscal year 2025. To enhance the educational environment, MEXT will allocate a subsidy of approximately 100 million yen annually to each participating university. Additionally, select universities will serve as practical training centers, equipped with advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and will be accessible to students from all corners of Japan.
