Chairman of South Korea's SK Group, Chey Tae-won: SK Hynix and NVIDIA Accelerate HBM Development, Confirming This Year's Supply Volume

Chey Tae-won, the Chairman of South Korea's SK Group, disclosed during CES 2025 on the 8th that he had met with NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang to discuss pivotal topics including High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) and 'Physical AI'. As NVIDIA's exclusive HBM supplier, SK Hynix introduced the fifth-generation 8-layer HBM3E product in March of last year and, in a groundbreaking move, commenced mass production of the world's first 12-layer stacked HBM3E memory in October. Chey Tae-won emphasized that while SK Hynix's R&D pace initially lagged slightly behind that of NVIDIA, it has recently begun to outpace it. The two companies have now finalized the supply volume of HBM for this year.
