After the U.S. market closed on Monday Eastern Time, Apple CEO John Ternus said during the earnings call that rising memory prices caused the company's gross margin to decline quarter-over-quarter in the new quarter. He described current memory pricing as unprecedented, noting that memory costs in the fourth fiscal quarter were higher than in the third fiscal quarter, partially offset by deferred inventory revenue and lower costs of non-memory components. Memory costs are expected to rise further in the first fiscal quarter of fiscal 2027.
