The National Development and Reform Commission announced at a press conference on "Forging Ahead in the 15th Five-Year Plan" that China's emerging pillar industries have already reached considerable scale, with last year's output value approaching 6 trillion yuan. R&D investment has grown rapidly, new technologies and products continue to emerge, and industrial expansion has accelerated. In the first three quarters of this year, integrated circuit output reached 442.8 billion units, up 23.3% year on year, while outbound technology licensing for innovative drugs totaled approximately 130 billion US dollars—close to the level for the entire previous year. By the end of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the output value of these industries is expected to double to more than 10 trillion yuan, making them a major force underpinning high-quality economic development.
