Intel shares plummeted on Friday, shrinking the paper market value of the U.S. government's stake in the company by roughly $10 billion—though the investment as a whole remains in the black. In August of last year, the Trump administration acquired a 9.9% stake in Intel at $20.47 per share, totaling 433.3 million newly issued shares, with an initial investment value of $8.9 billion. Earlier this year, Intel's stock price surged significantly, closing at $92.07 on Thursday, which corresponded to a paper market value of $39.9 billion for the U.S. government's stake.
