Samsung Electronics warned during its latest earnings call that the global memory chip supply crunch will not ease in the short term and may further deteriorate by 2027, with constrained supply expected to persist through 2028. Surging AI demand has driven robust demand for HBM and server SSDs, while factory construction cycles, equipment delivery delays, and HBM process limitations are prolonging the memory supply tightness. Samsung has secured 60%-70% of its medium- to long-term production capacity through long-term agreements and plans to expand mass production of advanced 2nm and 4nm process nodes.
