On October 28, OmniVision Group introduced the industry's pioneering 2.2-micron, 5-megapixel, global shutter high dynamic range (HDR) CMOS image sensor—the OG05D. Tailored specifically for industrial machine vision applications, this sensor is an ideal fit for barcode scanners, factory automation systems, compact AI cameras, humanoid robots, and it excels particularly in devices for robotic training data acquisition.
The OG05D incorporates a back-illuminated global shutter architecture, enabling it to achieve a maximum output frame rate of 146 frames per second. This marks a significant 143% enhancement compared to its predecessor. By integrating global shutter technology, HDR imaging capabilities, near-infrared responsiveness, and a low-power design, the OG05D adeptly meets the stringent requirements of industrial vision systems in terms of speed, image quality, and seamless system integration.
Furthermore, the OG05D stands out with its superior near-infrared quantum efficiency. It supports multiple modes, including RGB, Mono, and RGB-IR, making it versatile for use in a wide array of industrial equipment and embedded AI cameras.
In addition to the OG05D, OmniVision has also rolled out several other products leveraging 2.2-micron pixel technology, thereby establishing a comprehensive product matrix that caters to various scenarios, ranging from AI wearables to industrial machine vision. Among these, the OG01A, OG02D, and OG05B are already in mass production. Meanwhile, the OG0FA, OG01N, and OG05D are anticipated to commence mass production in the fourth quarter of 2026.
