Intel has reached an agreement to acquire Israeli quantum computing startup Classiq Technologies Ltd., with a strategic focus on the burgeoning quantum computing sector. The specific transaction amount remains undisclosed. Classiq boasts an impressive client roster that includes industry giants such as BMW and AT&T. Its cutting-edge technology empowers clients to develop operational code that is compatible with a wide range of quantum hardware. Additionally, Classiq provides proprietary AI tools designed to assist businesses in verifying the practical business applicability of quantum technology. The startup has successfully raised over $200 million in funding and currently employs approximately 130 talented individuals.

Following the acquisition, Classiq will maintain its commitment to aiding clients in developing code that is compatible with diverse quantum hardware, including that of Intel's competitors. This strategic move is poised to significantly bolster Intel's capabilities in quantum hardware research and development (R&D), propelling its Quantum Computing Division towards a full-stack quantum computing business model. The transaction is anticipated to be finalized in the first half of 2027.

Over the years, Intel has adeptly leveraged its manufacturing prowess in silicon-based components to concentrate on the spin qubit technology path. This strategic initiative is aimed at capitalizing on the vast opportunities presented by the emerging quantum computing market. Concurrently, Intel is making concerted efforts to reclaim the market share it has ceded in the AI computing power sector.
