TSMC has set its sights on shrinking the area of high-density 6T SRAM bit cells to less than 0.017 square micrometers in its A14 process, which is slated for mass production in 2028. This ambitious goal represents a reduction of over 19% and will herald the first significant downsizing of TSMC's SRAM unit size since the N5 process entered mass production in 2020. Presently, the A14 process is undergoing trial production, a crucial phase aimed at assessing the viability of mass production and enabling customers to validate the design's performance. Assuming all proceeds according to plan, risk production will kick off in 2027, paving the way for large-scale production to commence in 2028.
