According to Digitimes, the CEO of Western Digital stated in a recent earnings call that AI is essentially a data system, with any workload generating massive amounts of data, presenting a more sustained market opportunity for HDDs than computing power. Orders from its top seven core customers are scheduled until 2030-2031, with all HDD production capacity sold out for 2026 and long-term supply agreements signed through 2028.
