On October 23, reports surfaced indicating that SK Hynix has scrapped its initial public offering (IPO) plans for its flash memory subsidiary, Solidigm, in the United States. The proposed IPO had been met with significant resistance from shareholders and was under intense regulatory scrutiny, primarily due to concerns over potential harm to the interests of minority shareholders. In a regulatory filing made by SK Hynix on Friday, the company also announced the suspension of pre-IPO investment inflows that were initially planned to align with the listing. Originally, Solidigm had set its sights on going public in the U.S. market next year, with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley lined up as underwriters. However, apprehensions from South Korean regulators regarding the concept of 'dual listing'—which could potentially dilute the value for existing shareholders—have necessitated alterations to the original plan.
