In a collaborative effort involving the South Korean government, SK Hynix, and the nation’s top four commercial banks, a symbiotic trade financing scheme valued at 2 trillion won (roughly equivalent to $1.4 billion) has been introduced, tailored explicitly for semiconductor suppliers. The primary objective of this program is to diminish the financial burdens faced by suppliers and facilitate small and medium-sized enterprises in leveraging the burgeoning chip industry to fuel their expansion investments. On the 19th, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of South Korea orchestrated a signing ceremony at the SK Hynix semiconductor industrial complex located in Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, with Minister Kim Jeong-hoon gracing the event with his presence. The collaboration agreement was inked jointly by SK Hynix, the Korea Trade Insurance Corporation, and the four leading banks—Kookmin, Shinhan, Woori, and Hana. This initiative represents the most extensive partnership for a single enterprise since the inception of the export supply chain guarantee program in August of the previous year.
