On October 15th, news surfaced indicating that ByteDance is on the verge of finalizing a procurement deal with MediaTek, aimed at acquiring chips tailored for its data centers. Insiders with knowledge of the situation revealed that the two companies are deeply engaged in talks concerning the supply of custom-made chips, engineered explicitly to meet the demands of ByteDance's data center operations. MediaTek is set to deliver a yet-to-be-disclosed volume of application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) — chips uniquely crafted to cater to specific customer platforms. Should the agreement materialize, ByteDance stands to emerge as MediaTek's second-largest client in the ASIC domain, trailing only behind Google.
