On October 14, Reuters reported that Roger Dassen, CFO of lithography machine giant ASML, stated on the same day that the company opposes a proposal by the US Congress to restrict its sales of deep ultraviolet (DUV) lithography machines to China, deeming the move unwise. He pointed out that if the is passed after the US midterm elections, it will accelerate China's independent research and development of alternative technologies.
