Microsoft is teaming up with hardware giants like Intel and AMD to spearhead a significant campaign designed to bolster the stability of the Windows ecosystem. The tech behemoth recognizes that the stability of Windows is not solely contingent on the operating system itself; flawed drivers can equally precipitate system failures or the dreaded blue screens. In response, Microsoft is collaborating with its partners to elevate the quality benchmarks for drivers and has unveiled the Driver Quality Initiative (DQI). This comprehensive strategy encompasses a revamp of the platform architecture, a reinforcement of compliance measures, an enhancement of driver lifecycle management, and the establishment of a robust quality assessment framework. Furthermore, Microsoft intends to facilitate the remote rollback of defective drivers to swiftly mitigate issues. Beyond these measures, Microsoft has delineated four fundamental quality benchmarks: prioritizing stability, evaluating functional quality, setting minimum performance standards, and minimizing the ramifications of driver power consumption and heat emission.
