On October 9 (local time), Hurlston, CEO of Lumentum, a leader in optical communications in the United States, stated that due to the rush among tech companies to build high-speed AI data centers, the company's production capacity for optical components has been fully booked, with orders extending into early 2029. Among them, some products will still face a 70% unmet demand next year, while others will have a 30% demand gap by 2028. The company is addressing demand through capacity expansion and acquisitions, but new production capacity will still take 3 to 5 years to establish.
