On October 1, 2026, OpenAI and Synopsys unveiled a multi-year collaboration agreement focused on the joint development of the ChatGPT-Synopsys model, a groundbreaking initiative set to transform semiconductor design workflows. As per the terms of the agreement, OpenAI will grant Synopsys access to its electronic design automation (EDA) tools, which are integral to chip design models. The two entities will work hand-in-hand in research and development endeavors to collectively drive semiconductor innovation forward. This model will undergo specialized training tailored to chip design tasks, encompassing the entire spectrum from circuit descriptions to transistor layouts.
