On September 28, Ziad Asghar, Senior Vice President of Qualcomm Technologies and General Manager of XR, Wearables, and Personal AI Business, announced that the company would expand the Snapdragon platform from smartphones to personal AI devices such as smartwatches, smart glasses, and wireless earbuds, in response to the market demand for next-generation devices driven by AI agents. At the Snapdragon Summit 2026, Qualcomm unveiled the second-generation Snapdragon Sound Elite platform, designed for devices such as AI earbuds, AI pins, and audio glasses. This platform doubles the AI computing performance of its micro NPU compared to the previous generation, reduces chip size by 30%, and improves energy efficiency by 40%.
