On September 22 (local time), during its annual Snapdragon Summit, Qualcomm introduced two cutting-edge flagship mobile processors: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. These chips are designed with AI as the central focus for upgrades, highlighting improved personalization, on-device inference abilities, and multimodal processing for running AI agents on mobile devices. Specifically, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is built using TSMC's advanced 2nm N2P process. It boasts a 2+3+3 CPU architecture and integrates the Adreno 850 GPU. Notably, its prime core clock speed surpasses 5GHz, setting a new benchmark as the highest-frequency mobile chip in the market. Additionally, this chip incorporates Adreno Neural Fusion technology, which supports AI super-resolution and frame generation, and comes with a dedicated 18MB video memory. On the other hand, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 also leverages a 2nm process and is outfitted with a customized Qualcomm Oryon CPU, Adreno GPU, and Hexagon NPU. This configuration enables it to provide extensive support for AI, gaming, imaging, and connectivity features across a diverse array of flagship devices.
