Frank Heemskerk, the Executive Vice President of Global Public Affairs at ASML, pointed out that ASML hasn't sold any chip-manufacturing equipment in Europe. This situation arises from a lack of sufficient investment and the absence of new chip factories on the continent. The European Union is in the process of revising its Chips Act, which, in its previous form, failed to adequately incentivize investment in the establishment of new chip factories. Presently, numerous countries are actively competing to attract ASML by offering government funding and various incentives, all aimed at bolstering their domestic semiconductor sectors.
