On September 15th, reports surfaced indicating that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in collaboration with the National Development and Reform Commission, had recently jointly issued the Development Plan for the Electronic Information Manufacturing Industry. The plan explicitly outlines that, within the realm of photon key technology and product R&D, concerted efforts will be directed towards advancing the construction of micro-nano processing and manufacturing process platforms. These platforms encompass those designed for 6-inch and larger compound semiconductors, 8-inch and larger optical micro-electro-mechanical systems, and 12-inch and larger micro-nano optical superstructure surfaces. Concurrently, the plan underscores the significance of optoelectronic integration process platforms, with a particular focus on bolstering the low-cost mass production capabilities of 8-inch and larger silicon-based optoelectronics, as well as the heterogeneous integration capabilities of multi-material systems. Furthermore, it aims to achieve breakthroughs in key technologies for multi-dimensional heterogeneous integration within 12-inch advanced processes, thereby fostering the comprehensive development of optoelectronic integration platforms.
