According to reports, South Korean hedge fund Life Asset Management has become one of the first shareholders to directly push Samsung Electronics to repurchase and cancel its preferred shares in order to enhance the company's valuation. In a letter sent to Samsung's board of directors and management this week, the fund called on Samsung to repurchase and cancel preferred shares until the price gap with common shares is eliminated. The fund requested that Samsung's board of directors consider this plan at its October meeting and cancel the relevant shares by the end of December.
