On September 14, propelled by the AI craze, the memory chip market has embarked on a super cycle. However, SK Hynix has seen its market share in DRAM dwindle. This decline is not attributable to sluggish sales of its DRAM products. Instead, it stems from the disproportionately high share of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) in its product lineup and the disparity in production volume when compared to Samsung Electronics. According to data released by market research firm TrendForce on the 14th, SK Hynix's DRAM revenue in the second quarter surged by 37.9% quarter-on-quarter, hitting USD 38.59 billion. Yet, its market share shrank by 3.9 percentage points, dropping from 28.8% to 24.9%. Samsung Electronics clinched the top spot with a 39.4% market share, while Micron Technology narrowed the gap with SK Hynix to a mere 1.6 percentage points, securing a 23.3% market share.
