Three Major U.S. Stock Indices Close Lower; Large-Cap Tech Stocks Show Divergent Performance

On September 5, all three of the major U.S. stock indices concluded the trading session in negative territory. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by 0.51%, the Nasdaq Composite Index dropped by 0.29%, and the S&P 500 Index fell by 0.38%. Among large-cap technology stocks, performance was notably mixed. Micron Technology stood out with a significant gain of 6.1%, while NVIDIA saw a modest increase of 0.84%, and Meta registered a 1% rise. Conversely, Google experienced a 1.05% decline, Amazon dipped by 0.15%, Apple dropped by 2.51%, and Tesla suffered a sharp fall of 5.92%. The performance of popular Chinese American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) was similarly varied. Baidu led the pack with a 4.07% increase, followed by Alibaba, which rose by 1.28%, and JD.com, which gained 1.87%. Li Auto also saw a positive move, rising by 2.57%. On the other hand, XPeng fell by 1.71%, and NIO experienced a 1.55% decline.
