NVIDIA’s recently released GeForce Game Ready 616.56 driver has been causing irregular screen flickering for certain users, impacting graphics cards in the GTX 16, RTX 30, 40, and 50 series. The issue is particularly evident in applications built on the Chromium platform. During testing, it was found that the problem occurs frequently at an 8-bit color depth. Users can sidestep this by switching to a 10-bit color depth or enabling the system’s automatic color management feature, though the 10-bit solution may come with refresh rate limitations on some devices. Interestingly, some users have not experienced any issues, likely due to variations in their hardware setups. NVIDIA has acknowledged the feedback and is currently in the process of testing potential fixes, though the exact timing for the release of these fixes remains undetermined. In the meantime, affected users have the option to adjust their color depth to 10-bit or revert to the previous 610.88 version of the driver.
