On August 29, according to comprehensive reports from foreign media, on August 28 local time, Chinese chipmaker ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) filed a lawsuit in the U.S. Federal District Court for the District of Columbia, naming U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth as the defendant and demanding removal from a blacklist. CXMT stated that its designed chips are used in civilian and commercial sectors, not for military purposes, and were erroneously placed on the blacklist. Since being first added to the blacklist in January 2025, the company's reputation and commercial interests have suffered ongoing harm, and this lawsuit aims to protect its commercial interests. According to Reuters, the U.S. Department of Defense stated that, in accordance with policy, it does not comment on pending or ongoing litigation.
