In the second quarter of this year, the global pure-play foundry semiconductor market size increased by 29% year-on-year, primarily driven by a significant surge in demand for AI chips. AI-related orders and capacity allocation have led to an imbalance in supply and demand for both advanced and mature processes. TSMC maintained its leading position for two consecutive quarters with a 73% market share, leveraging its advantages in large-scale 2nm production, 3nm capacity expansion, and supply shortages in mature processes and advanced packaging. Samsung ranked second, with its market share remaining largely unchanged quarter-on-quarter. Its focus in the first half of the year was on improving SF2 yield rates, while wafer price increases and growing demand for SF4 and SF5 drove its revenue growth.
