According to regulatory filings released on Friday, Samsung Electronics’ investment in research and development (R&D) reached KRW 27.3 trillion (approximately US$19 billion) in the first half of 2026. This represents a significant 51.5% increase compared to the same period last year, setting a new record for a half-year timeframe. During the same period, the company’s equipment investment also hit an all-time high of KRW 28 trillion, up nearly KRW 5 trillion from the previous year.
