Samsung Electronics has recently revealed that its HBM4 products have achieved an impressive "golden yield" rate of 80%. This marks a substantial improvement from the initial yield rate of less than 60% observed at the commencement of mass production in February. Remarkably, the yield rate has stabilized within a mere six months, reaching the year-end target that was originally set. As mass production scales up in the latter half of the year, the positive impacts of process enhancements have surpassed initial expectations. Industry experts suggest that SK Hynix has also elevated its HBM4 yield rate to approximately 80%, indicating a shift in the competitive landscape of the HBM market from technological innovation to capacity expansion. According to UBS forecasts, by 2026, SK Hynix is projected to lead the market with a 48% share of HBM bit shipments. However, by 2027, Samsung is expected to slightly overtake SK Hynix, securing a 41% share compared to SK Hynix's 39%.
