On August 7, SK Hynix made a significant announcement, revealing its plans to invest a staggering US$38.4 billion to expand its chip business operations within South Korea. As part of this ambitious endeavor, the company intends to allocate KRW 19.1 trillion (equivalent to approximately US$13.47 billion) towards the development of its M17 chip factory in Cheongju, with the project slated for completion by 2031. Furthermore, SK Hynix has earmarked an additional KRW 35.2 trillion (roughly US$24.9 billion) for the construction of a second-phase chip factory in Yongin, solidifying its commitment to technological advancement and market dominance.
