On August 6, Grasol Micro announced on an investor interaction platform that it had successfully acquired LUCEDA, a globally renowned entity in silicon photonics design automation (PDA), in August 2025. LUCEDA's flagship product, IPKISS, encompasses the complete workflow of silicon photonics chip design, including simulation, verification, and preparation for tape-out. Post-acquisition, both entities collaboratively introduced the DE-Photonics and Photonics DRC tools. Furthermore, they established a joint research and development hub with Zhejiang University, dedicated to silicon photonics technology and measurement equipment. This partnership is geared towards addressing critical challenges in wafer-level silicon photonics testing equipment and devising solutions to enhance yield. Presently, the R&D endeavors are advancing systematically. Grasol Micro emphasized that the silicon photonics sector is still in its nascent stages of industrialization. As application scenarios broaden and the industrial division of labor matures, the demand for pertinent design tools and testing services is poised for sustained growth. The company's technological prowess is expected to serve as a catalyst for medium- to long-term expansion.
