A scarcity of DRAM has left TSMC with a staggering $1 billion inventory of Apple's A20 Pro processors, all held up and waiting for the necessary DRAM components to arrive before the packaging process can be finalized. Presently, TSMC is channeling all its resources into expanding its 2nm process capacity to keep up with the soaring demand. However, the prevailing gap in DRAM supply poses a significant challenge that is not easily overcome in the near future, thus creating bottlenecks in the processor packaging workflow.
