Recently, the research team headed by Researcher Zhang Yong and Professor Su Yikai from the School of Integrated Circuits at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, in conjunction with Professor Tian Yonghui’s team from Lanzhou University and Professor Qiu Feng’s team from the Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, has made a substantial breakthrough in the realm of thin-film piezoelectric lead zirconate titanate (PZT) electro-optic modulation technology and photonic computing chips. The team has successfully created a high-performance thin-film PZT electro-optic modulator with a bandwidth that surpasses 100GHz. By harnessing the non-volatile properties of thin-film PZT, they have innovatively designed a reconfigurable photonic computing chip boasting a computing density of up to 266 TOPS/mm². This accomplishment offers a novel approach for advancing high-efficiency hardware in the domains of artificial intelligence and high-speed photonic computing.
