Samsung Electronics announced on Thursday that it will commence construction of its second semiconductor wafer fabrication plant (Taylor Fab 2) at its Taylor site in Texas, USA, by the end of this year. The project is scheduled to begin in 2026 and start production in 2030. The Taylor Fab 1 is expected to become operational in 2026 and gradually expand production of 2-nanometer process chips. Samsung is evaluating options to add wafer manufacturing capacity to meet customer demand for the 1.4-nanometer process.
