On July 29, UMC unveiled its plans to expand the cleanroom capacity at its Singapore facility. Concurrently, it commenced the foundational work, or shell construction, for a new fabrication plant (fab) in the Tainan Science Park, aiming to promptly address customers' pressing needs. Furthermore, UMC has outlined intentions to establish a state-of-the-art wafer fab in Taiwan. This new facility will lay the groundwork for the future Phase 7 and Phase 8 expansions, thereby further solidifying its strategic footprint in the advanced packaging industry.
