Macronix, a Taiwan-based manufacturer specializing in niche memory products, has announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2026. The company reported a quarterly revenue of NT$19.1 billion, marking a significant year-on-year increase of 180%. It also achieved a gross profit margin of 64.4% and an operating profit margin of 46.9%. Notably, ROM revenue experienced growth of approximately 40% both year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter. Meanwhile, the shipment value of eMMC products surged, increasing more than threefold quarter-on-quarter and over 50 times year-on-year. From a technological standpoint, Macronix's current 3D NAND offerings employ MLC technology, with production capabilities for both 48-layer and 96-layer products. The company anticipates that its 192-layer technology will commence mass production in the coming year (2027). Furthermore, Macronix plans to introduce TLC technology at the 300-layer stage, although no concrete mass production plans have been established for that phase yet. On the same day as the financial announcement, Macronix's board of directors approved a new capital expenditure budget. The company intends to sequentially invest NT$15.81 billion starting from this quarter, with funds allocated towards production and backend equipment, among other areas. This investment is projected to enhance Macronix's monthly production capacity by an additional 4,000 to 5,000 12-inch wafers. Consequently, the total annual investment scale is expected to rise to approximately NT$38 billion.
