This year, the burgeoning demand for AI computing power has triggered a supply shortage of MLCCs (Multilayer Ceramic Chip Capacitors)—often dubbed the "rice of the electronics industry"—resulting in a sustained price hike and propelling a rebound in the passive component sector. Several listed companies have reported substantial growth in their first-half performance, with the highest growth rate surpassing sixfold. As we look ahead to the second half of the year, industry insiders note that while MLCC prices have largely stabilized since July, there has been a growing divergence in pricing across different product categories. Specifically, prices for AI and automotive-grade high-end, high-capacity MLCCs continue to climb. Given the robust demand for AI servers, coupled with committed production capacity from original manufacturers and elevated raw material costs upstream, it is anticipated that prices for these high-end, high-capacity MLCCs will persist in their upward trajectory in the second half of the year. This trend is likely to drive an overall enhancement in the prosperity of the passive component market.
