The artificial intelligence boom has led to a notable surge in the personal wealth of SK Hynix billionaire Choi Tae-won. In a recent landmark ruling, a South Korean court mandated that he pay his ex-wife 944 billion South Korean won (equivalent to approximately US$643 million) as part of their divorce settlement, effectively bringing this high-profile divorce case to a close. Should the ruling be enforced, it would mark the largest divorce settlement in South Korean history. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Choi Tae-won's net worth currently stands at around US$5.6 billion, having more than doubled over the past year. At present, the court has yet to specify how this substantial sum will be paid—whether in cash, stocks, or a combination of both.
