On July 21, Intel and cybersecurity company Fortinet announced an expanded collaboration to jointly develop the Fortinet Secure Processor 6 (SP6). This partnership combines Fortinet's secure processor design capabilities with Intel's semiconductor design, advanced packaging, and manufacturing technologies, aiming to enhance the performance of cybersecurity products and supply chain resilience. The SP6 chip will be manufactured using Intel 4 process technology, targeting Fortinet's firewall product line to handle security computing acceleration tasks. This collaboration marks Intel Foundry Services' first named external customer since the appointment of Lip-Bu Tan, representing a significant milestone for Intel.
