ASML is gearing up to raise the prices of its chipmaking equipment and has already informed certain customers about a 10% price surge for its DUV lithography machines. The company's Chief Financial Officer explained that the enhanced production efficiency of Low NA tools has created some leeway for price hikes. As the sole provider of cutting-edge lithography patterning equipment on a global scale, ASML's production capacity for lithography machines holds significant sway over the expansion of the global semiconductor front-end capacity. Although ASML has set an ambitious goal to boost the production of Low NA EUV and DUV lithography machines by 30% year-on-year over the next two years, it is still grappling with the overwhelming demand for semiconductor capacity from the AI sector. This move has, unsurprisingly, sparked discontent among customers, including TSMC.
