According to the Korea Economic Daily citing industry sources, Samsung Electronics plans to construct a new DRAM factory in Giheung, South Korea, with a monthly production capacity of approximately 100,000 wafers and an estimated investment of tens of trillions of Korean won. The site, originally planned as a research and development center, has been repurposed as a production facility to meet the growing demand for memory chips amid the boom in AI infrastructure investment. Construction could begin as early as the third quarter of 2026.
