Industry insiders reveal that Samsung Electronics is set to expedite the commencement of production at its inaugural wafer fabrication plant in the Yongin chip industrial park to 2029. This move represents a one- to two-year advancement from the initial schedule, a feat made possible by the South Korean government's swift progress in developing this strategically significant national park. The Yongin park is earmarked for the construction of six semiconductor factories. The early operationalization of the first factory will empower Samsung to swiftly cater to the escalating global demand for artificial intelligence chips. Furthermore, Samsung has earmarked an investment of 2,030 trillion won for its two major semiconductor industrial hubs in Pyeongtaek and Yongin, along with an additional 400 trillion won to establish two new chip factories in Gwangju.
