According to ChosunBiz, Samsung Electronics’ foundry business has recently recalibrated its production strategy, placing a higher priority on fulfilling existing customer commitments while adopting a more selective approach to new client acquisitions. Industry analysts note that the rapid expansion of the artificial intelligence (AI) sector is fundamentally altering demand dynamics within the semiconductor foundry market. Traditionally dominated by smartphone application processors, advanced process node requirements have now pivoted toward AI accelerators, application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), and high-performance computing (HPC) solutions. Currently, Samsung Foundry reports near-total saturation of its 4nm process capacity, with bookings already extending through the entirety of next year’s production schedule. Concurrently, certain 8nm process lines are approaching full operational utilization, necessitating strategic order management.
