Morningstar analyst Jing Jie Yu stated that the uncertainty surrounding the future capital expenditure plans of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix may be exerting pressure on their stock prices. The two companies plan to spend a combined total of approximately 2,000 trillion Korean won over the next decade, nearly double Morningstar's estimate, with SK Hynix's investments in AI data centers and the Yongin wafer factory cluster potentially reaching 600 trillion Korean won. Analysts point out that if SK Hynix's AI data center investments are independent of its overall capital expenditure plans, memory chip producers will face the risk of oversupply, as demand often tends to weaken in the final years of the capital expenditure cycle.
