At the close of trading, the three major U.S. stock indices exhibited divergent trends: the Dow Jones Industrial Average edged up by 0.29%, whereas the Nasdaq Composite Index tumbled 1.32%, and the S&P 500 Index declined by 0.37%. Notably, SpaceX's stock price took a significant hit, plummeting 16% and shedding USD 400 billion in market value, thus slipping beneath its closing price on the first day of its IPO. Google's shares took a 5% nosedive following the announcement of the departure of Jumper, the leader of its AI division. Meanwhile, Amazon's stock price experienced a 4.8% drop, marking its steepest single-day decline since the beginning of February. The performance of chip stocks was a mixed bag: Micron Technology, Intel, and SanDisk all surged more than 4%, with Applied Materials and NXP Semiconductors also gaining over 2%. Conversely, ARM plummeted more than 7%, Broadcom fell over 4%, and both Qualcomm and Western Digital witnessed declines exceeding 1%.
