In a bid to ease U.S. anxieties regarding China's potential access to advanced technologies, ASML and the Dutch government have unequivocally stated that China will not be granted access to their most sophisticated EUV lithography machine equipment. ASML underscored that the company has never exported EUV lithography machines or associated components to China, and that all its business operations adhere strictly to regulations, without transgressing U.S. export control policies. The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted that it maintains explicit rules and control lists for the export of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, necessitating export licenses, and is rigorously enforcing relevant policies through intervention measures to guarantee their execution.
In reaction to U.S. pressure on the Netherlands to join in the technological embargo against China, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs voiced its staunch opposition. It asserted that the U.S.'s practice of exaggerating national security concerns and imposing a technological embargo on China under unfounded pretexts contravenes international trade regulations, disrupts the global semiconductor industry landscape, and jeopardizes the security and stability of industrial and supply chains. Ultimately, this strategy will boomerang on the U.S., damaging the interests of its related industries and domestic companies. China urges the Netherlands to maintain an objective and equitable stance, honor contractual obligations, safeguard shared interests, ensure a conducive international trade environment, and will persist in monitoring developments and defending its legitimate rights and interests.
