Recently, amid a series of high-level discussions, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick voiced his concerns to ASML, the Dutch titan in photolithography machinery. He raised allegations that an extreme ultraviolet (EUV) photolithography machine might have found its way into China—a move that, if confirmed, would stand as a flagrant breach of the prevailing export control measures. ASML, however, stood its ground, categorically refuting the claim. The company asserted that it has never supplied any EUV systems to China and emphasized that the U.S. Department of Commerce has yet to produce any concrete evidence, either to the press or to ASML itself.
