He expressed concerns that some of ASML's premier chip-fabrication machinery might have been diverted to China, a move that could potentially contravene the export control regulations spearheaded by the United States. This development was initially brought to light by Bloomberg. Historically, the US has persistently intensified its export restrictions on chip-related equipment destined for China. However, China has countered these efforts with proactive strategies, including independent research and development initiatives and the implementation of export controls on vital raw materials, thereby progressively dismantling Western technological barriers.
