On June 18, during the late-night hours in local time, U.S. President Trump posted on social media, stating that the United States must encourage the semiconductor industry to relocate back to its home turf, with a particular emphasis on the notion that chips designed within the U.S. borders should also be manufactured domestically. To achieve this goal, he revealed his decision to support Intel in exchange for a 10% stake in the company. Trump detailed several strategic moves he has undertaken: securing the participation of NVIDIA, which has consented to partner with Intel in producing top-tier chips; gaining Elon Musk's commitment to construct TerraFab, the world's largest chip factory, and collaborate with Intel's technical team on design endeavors; and Apple has also reached an agreement to team up with Intel for chip design and manufacturing within the United States. Trump highlighted that at the time of his investment offer, Intel was valued at roughly $100 billion, but its market capitalization has since soared past $600 billion, marking an increase of over $500 billion in just nine months. With the U.S. government's holding now valued at over $60 billion, Trump rhetorically inquired as to when the last instance was that a president had generated such substantial financial gains for the United States.
