Propelled by the surging demand from artificial intelligence (AI) computing capabilities and the new energy sector, the Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitor (MLCC) industry is currently undergoing a fresh phase of supply-demand imbalances. On the evening of June 16, companies including Hongming Electronics, Sidi Ke, and Sunway Communication sequentially announced the progress made in their MLCC operations. The most recent mid-term strategy for the electronics industry, as published by Galaxy Securities, highlights that AI servers and new energy vehicles are the primary drivers behind the swift expansion in MLCC demand, presenting substantial opportunities for domestic substitution. Specifically, the use of MLCCs in AI servers is roughly 8 to 12 times greater than that in traditional servers, while in new energy vehicles, it is about sixfold compared to gasoline-powered vehicles. Upon the completion of the Hongke Phase II base, a fundraising and investment project of Hongming Electronics, the facility will have the capacity to manufacture 400 million MLCCs annually, with some of this production capacity being allocated to emerging civilian applications. Sidi Ke intends to invest 565 million yuan in the construction of a project aimed at producing 1.2 billion square meters of high-end MLCC release films each year, thereby increasing the share of mid-to-high-end production capacity. Additionally, some high-capacity material numbers from Sunway Electronic Technology, a firm in which Sunway Communication holds a stake, have successfully undergone verification by major clients and have commenced mass delivery.
